For this project, my group created a film about Cystic Fibrosis
The Film
Overview
In this project, we focused on a disease that affects protiens in the body. However, before we did this, we had to learn what a protein is and how we get a protein. We spent two weeks learning about DNA, RNA and protiens. After this, we chose a disease that affects protiens, which was Cystic Fibrosis. We studied our disease for a week, while also researching translation and protien folding. Finally, we spent a week writing our script and filming/editing our film.
Reflection
In this project, i didn't do a very good job of taking initiative. i was a more passive member of the group since I didn't really understand the material. i should have tried harder to understand the material and add more to the project. Another pit I had in this project was not understanding the material. Yes, it was confusing, and I should have done a better job of attempting to learn more and understand protein folding.
One peak I had in this project was doing my work well. I made sure to keep a much higher quality of work in this project, and I think it can really be seen by how much of our research there is. A second peak I had in this project was cooperation. Our group never had any arguments over what would happen, and we overall worked very well together. Overall, I believe I did a very good job on this project, and am very happy with our final prodyct

Concepts
Protein Synthesis:Protein synthesis is the creation of proteins within a cell. There are multiple steps to this, which will be discussed below. However, the main steps are DNA being transcribed into RNA and RNA being translated into a protein.
Transcription: Transcription is the transformation of DNA into mRNA. This process happens in the nucleolus. This process starts with initiation, where RNA binds to the promoter of DNA. The DNA is then red, and each codon of DNA relates to a codon of RNA. After this, these chains meet up, and the mRNA is sent to the ribosome
Translation: Translation is the process of translating RNA into amino acids. This happens when an mRNA meets up with a tRNA and the tRNA binds to the codon inside of a ribosome, a step called elongation. This is then turned into an amino acid, which then are linked together to become a polypeptide chain. Finally, a stop codon is reached and the chain is released
Protein Folding: In protein folding, the polypeptide chains fold into a protein. This happens in the cytoplasm. In this step, there are multiple hydrophobic reactions within the polypeptide chain that cause it to fold into a three dimensional shape. we call this shape a protein.
RNA: RNA stands for ribonucleic acid, which is a nucleic acid present in all living cells. it is a component in translation and is created from DNA throguh transcription
Amino Acid: A simple organic compound containing a carboxyl and amino group. Amino acids are created in translation and are used in the creation of polypeptide chains
Polymerase: an enzyme used in the creation of polypeptide chains, particularly by bonding them together
Polypeptide Chain: A long chain of amino acids that get folded into proteins
Codon: A codon is a group of three nucleic acids that form a unit of DNA and RNA
Alpha Helix: A common form of RNA, while DNA is found in double helix.
Beta Sheet: The shape proteins fold into.
